The faculty of social sciences and humanities has initiated the area-based research project entitled ‘Development of Model for Effective Local Waste Management and Environmental Preservation Under Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): A Case Study of Tha Muang District, Kanchanaburi Province’ by its application of the concept of ‘social co-production’. The Faculty has collaborated with business-industry sector, local government organization and people. The objective is to co-produce and develop model, process and innovation that are appropriate and sustainable for waste management in the local context. The Project, supported by Mahidol University, has led by vice-president of strategy and system development, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somsak Amornsiriphong as the head of research team and the academic staff of the department of social sciences. The research team has up-to-date finished the survey on waste management in targeted areas in Tambol Wangsala, Wangkanai and Baan Mai, in order to analyze opportunities and challenges for community’s waste management by means of civil participation and sustainability.
