Thankful Remarks Spoken by CCGA Students

Thankful Remarks Spoken by CCGA Students

Ven. HU Chuang

Dear the Dean, associate Professor Luechai, Dr. Yuan De, professors, classmates, ladies, and gentlemen, good morning.

I am very honored to have been given this opportunity.

Spring is a season full of hope and vitality. In such a beautiful and poetic season, our year of study has also ushered in a phased harvest.

Firstly, I am very grateful to our Dean, Assoc. Prof. Luechai for giving us the opportunity to study at Mahidol University, the best university in Thailand. At the same time, we are very grateful to our dear teachers and the supporting staffs from the Center for China and Globalizing Asia (CCGA).

Because of them, our study and life this year have been vibrant and colorful. We have learned a lot of new and practical knowledge.

Although Mr. Fredric sometimes was unsatisfied with our performance in his class, he is indeed an excellent and serious instructor. His teachings on English grammar has undoubtedly laid the foundation for our further English learning.

Taking Mr. Philip Wood’s English conversation class is some kind of pleasant experience due to his great senior sense of humor. We laughed a lot in his class, though he sometimes felt disappointed with our poor pronunciation.

We learned research methodology on Social Sciences from Prof. Zhang Xizhen, a renown expert on Southeast Asian International Relations. We clearly know that the methodologies of multiple fields vary and work as the indispensable tools on our academic Journey. Mastering the essential mythological theories in the areas of our choosing can facilitate us to carry out the rational, objective and fair researches for the social good.

Aj. Tavivat Puntargvivat taught us Thai culture and etiquette in the past two semesters, leading us to explore the leisurely pace of life and attitude of the lovely Thai people.

Dr. Yuan De has often urged us to cherish the opportunity of studying at Mahidol University, the top-ranking institute in Thailand, and encouraged us, particularly the religious insider-students to balance the feelings of religious beliefs with the rigorous and scientific academics.

Dr. Matthew Kosuta is an experienced lecturer on Southeast Asian religions, politics and ethnic conflicts in Mahidol University. The two courses he taught in the past two semesters, History of Southeast Asia and Religio-Politics in ASEAN-China, offered us enormous clues on the roles religion plays in Southeast Asian politics, economy and even transnational relations, generating our new recognition of religion from different aspects than the faith only.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are here now to conclude the one-year CCGA Training Program of Soft Academic Skills with various distinctions of our own. In my belief, this is not the ending point of our journey of learning, rather a new starting point for us to embrace a new phase of academy and life, where all kinds of challenges, uncertainties, and difficulties lie ahead.

However, as a responsible member of the human society, as the Dean just said in his inspirational commencement, we should, on the one hand, be aware of all kinds of sociopolitical contexts, and cultivate our inner sincerity and integrity to embrace all this on the other hand.

Miss LIU Ting

Mr. Dean, Professors, teachers and dear classmates, good morning!

It’s my honored to be here today to express my love and respect to everyone.

One year passed so fast, maybe the day after today might be hard to have a chance to spend a quality time with everyone like this again. I will miss all the good time we all had here.

As a student in Mahidol University, this is the best university in Thailand, having the best teachers and having the best environment of academic research for me. Throughout last year, I have learned a lot of knowledge and changed my understanding of ASEAN and Thailand. Actually, I have learned more history of Thailand including culture and religion. By this I have to thank you to our teachers and professors.

Unfortunately, our project has come to an end, it makes me sad to say goodbye. If I have a chance to study or attending to professors’ class again, it would be my pleasure to listen “how to get along with Thai culture, cooperation with Thai enterprise” again.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all of the teachers, thank you all of the good memories with classmates. Wish you all the best and succeed in the future.

Note: Miss LIU Ting has successfully enrolled into the School of Law at Chulalongkorn University after one year training of soft academic skills
