A strong basis in the social sciences disciplines in health social sciences positions this degree as a pivotal one for health changes in society. The focus of the program is the development of social sciences tools to understand and provide policy recommendations in the area of health issues and problems. The main forte of this program is its aim to address the issue of health inequity and the mobilization of stakeholders such as governmental and non-governmental development agencies, national and international donors and several networking bodies in the health sector to promote social justice and bridge health inequities.
The international Ph.D. program began in 2014 and has attracted students from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal and Vietnam. The Ph.D. program takes into great consideration the changing situation of health, the understanding of theory an
d the application of theory to real-life situations in terms of analysis and recommendations.
